Heart and soul behind the camera…

4th week of the Certified Voice Acting Program was filled with mixed emotions. I was a bit sad because it was the last day of our learning sessions but I was excited and happy because my fellow aspiring voice artists would be certified soon.

We learned about different types of microphone in the morning session and some bits of wisdom from the VoiceMaster Pocholo Gonzales about the career that we were taking. In the afternoon we did live dubbing online. As usual, we were divided into 10 breakout rooms and we had to make our own script in order to dub a scene in Votes V.
We had so much fun although the biggest challenge for all of us was the delay in internet connection that’s why it was hard to sync the audio and the video when we did it on line.

It was hard to say goodbye but all of us were hopeful to see each other someday and to continue doing projects together. We were all proud that we were taught by the VoiceMaster Pocholo Gonzales. When he asked me my opinion about the program, I could say that I was happy for him for achieving his success in life.

Here is my story of how I met Pocholo Gonzales. When I was in 3rd year high school (2008), I watched his interview in UNTV37 about dubbing. I was amazed and since then I had been dreaming of seeing him in person one day. I was happy to know that he was conducting workshop so I saved up to enroll in Voiceworx in 2016. Then he offered the Certified Voice Artist Program this year. CVAP is an advanced workshop because it requires to set up a home recording studio so talent + passion + technical skills should go hand in hand in order to be certified.

The title Certidied Voice Artist is like a license to the new normal way of doing voice over projects and there’s no one else who can certify the asporing voice artists but the VoiceMaster. I’ve been his fan since 2008 and until now I still look up to him in this industry. I should say that Philippines must be proud that there is Pocholo Gonzales who strives to give hope to aspirants and to uplift the voice over industry.

The VoiceMaster gave his motivational speech as he taught about branding and marketing ourselves. He was building our confidence as voice artists to be inspired and to become an inspiration to others. He reiterated that the Certified Voice Artist Program was a support group for all of us. Yey!

My brand name is The Voice Artist-Writer. I created this brand name because I wanted to recognize and market my passion in voice artistry and writing. In fact, I am a contributing author to 2 published poetry books and 1 short fiction as of writing this blog. Hopefully, I will be able to give life to my poetry by doing voice over.

Another lesson that was discussed was about putting different emotions in saying “Mahal kita.” That was the task in our breakout session. It turned out that there were many ways to say “Mahal kita.” Indeed, it was fun to learn new things and to meet new groupmates or friends.
